When Brisbane Pride Association invited me to be an Ambassador I jumped at the opportunity.

As a young boy growing up in Murwillumbah, the Gold Coast shimmered like Oz on the horizon and I dreamed of being a star. Brisbane was just an impossible dream. It's been a long way for me, from humble beginnings doing Back To School fashions in the Grace Bros window, and being Under-10 Run Like A Girl state champion.

I just love the Brisbane Pride Festival…they have really been the silent achiever in Australia in promoting positive acceptance for the GLBT community. I mean... afternoon tea with Quentin Bryce!

The committee has been busily creating a sensational entertainment program with thousands of people enjoying the event each year. They celebrate new talent (like I was once, believe it or not) whilst attracting hit performers from all artistic backgrounds.

I encourage you to join me in supporting Brisbane Pride Festival.

I believe that, not only with the LGBT community in mind, but for the entire Australian Community we need to value tolerance, understanding, support and love - in all its shapes and sizes. The Howard Government has continually attacked the rights of members of the LGBT community and this election we need to let them know that this intolerance is not acceptable!
